1 Introduction & Overview
Welcome to Happy Calculator: Kids Math ("HappyCalc", "the App", "we", "us", or "our"). We are passionate about making mathematics joyful, approachable, and rewarding for children and young learners.
Because our application is designed specifically for children and families, protecting child privacy is our highest priority. This Privacy Policy details our strict adherence to privacy protection, explaining what data is stored, how features operate locally, and how we protect every child who interacts with our application.
2 Compliance with Children's Privacy Laws (COPPA & GDPR-K)
HappyCalc complies fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States and the General Data Protection Regulation for Kids (GDPR-K, Article 8) in the European Union, as well as Google Play's Designed for Families policy requirements.
- No Collection of Personal Information: We do not knowingly collect, solicit, or store personally identifiable information (PII) from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area).
- No Mandatory Account Creation: Children can enjoy all features of HappyCalc without creating an account, signing up with an email address, or linking social media profiles.
- No Social Interaction or Chat: There are no open chat rooms, public message boards, or multiplayer messaging features where a child could accidentally share personal information.
- Parental Supervision: We encourage parents and legal guardians to actively participate in and monitor their children's app usage.

4 On-Device Storage & Data Encryption
HappyCalc offers interactive features such as multi-child profiles, sticker rooms, arithmetic quest stars, and calculation history.
- All saved profiles, earned badges, custom nicknames, and historical equations are stored strictly locally on the user's mobile device using an encrypted SQLite database.
- This information never leaves the device and is never transmitted to our servers or external databases.
- If you uninstall the app or clear the app storage in your Android device settings, all locally stored data is permanently and immediately deleted.
5 Advertising Policy & Families Program Compliance
To keep HappyCalc free and accessible to all families, the App may display non-intrusive advertisements provided exclusively by Google AdMob, an approved and certified ad network under the Google Play Designed for Families program.
Our advertising implementation complies strictly with Google Play Families ad policies:
- Child-Directed Configuration: All ad requests are flagged with
TAG_FOR_CHILD_DIRECTED_TREATMENT = trueandTAG_FOR_UNDER_AGE_OF_CONSENT = true. - Restricted Content Rating: Ad content is hard-capped to the G (General Audiences) rating suitable for children of all ages.
- No Behavioral Tracking: Personalized advertising, behavioral profiling, and cross-site remarketing are completely disabled.
- No Advertising ID Collection: The Google Advertising ID (AAID) permission is explicitly disabled in the app's manifest (
tools:node="remove") to prevent device identification. - Safe Ad Placement: Ads are clearly differentiated from game content and will never deceive or manipulate young learners.
6 Third-Party Service Providers
HappyCalc integrates with a limited number of industry-standard third-party SDKs necessary for operating and stabilizing the Android application:
-
Google Play Services: Provided by Google LLC. Used for core operating system functionality, app licensing, and standard device compatibility.
Privacy policy: Google Privacy Policy -
Google AdMob (Child-Safe): Certified family-safe ad network delivering contextual, non-personalized advertisements.

7 Parental Controls & Protected Parent Gate
HappyCalc includes a specialized Parental Gate mechanism designed to keep young children safely inside the learning environment:
- Any action that could lead outside the app (such as visiting an external web link, reviewing the app on Google Play, or accessing adult settings/dashboards) is locked behind a math puzzle intended exclusively for adults.
- This prevents inadvertent purchases, unexpected web navigation, or unintended modification of child learning statistics.
8 User Rights, Data Retention & Deletion
Because we do not store your personal information on any cloud servers or remote databases, you maintain 100% control over your data directly on your device:
- Immediate Reset: You can reset all learning history and profiles at any time from within the Parent Dashboard inside the app.
- Full Data Deletion: Navigating to your device's Settings > Apps > HappyCalc > Storage > Clear Data or uninstalling the app permanently purges all local databases.
- Parental Inquiries: Parents or guardians may contact us at any time with questions regarding their child's privacy or data rights.
9 Security Standards
We employ robust security practices to safeguard data on your device:
- Android Application Sandboxing: App data is stored in isolated application sandboxes, preventing unauthorized applications from inspecting or accessing HappyCalc databases.
- HTTPS Transport Security: Any network communication (such as fetching contextual ads) is strictly conducted over encrypted TLS/HTTPS protocols.
